Position Summary

Reporting to the owners, the incumbent is responsible for training and supervising staff, providing excellent service to our customers, and successfully implementing the company’s policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the retail space and share responsibility for the cafe.
  • Train and supervise staff.
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
  • Ensure all food safety procedures are strictly adhered to in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager and owners to meet revenue objectives.
  • Responsible for daily cash closings and reports.
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding the handling of cash, product, property and equipment.
  • Audit inventory levels to ensure product availability and advise Food and Beverage Manager when additional supplies need to be ordered.
  • Respond to all customer queries or complaints.

Job Related Skills

  • Hospitality/Business related post-secondary education preferred and/or 2-3 years of hospitality and retail experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and retail software.
  • Experience handling cash and payments responsibly in a food and beverage or retail environment.
  • High ethical standards of behaviour, good judgement, respect for others, confidentiality and attention to detail.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Front of House Manager the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the café, providing excellent service to our customers and following the company’s policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare food and beverage under the guidance of the managers.
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
  • Follow all Health and Safety regulations.
  • Provide outstanding service to customers.
  • Handle cash, product, property and equipment according to the company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to customer queries or complaints, or direct them to the Manager, if necessary.
  • Maintain the workspaces and the dining room in a clean and orderly state.

Kitchen Helper & Ice Cream Maker

Position Title:               Kitchen Helper & Ice Cream Maker
Position Status: Permanent / Full or Part Time

A kitchen helper cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, assists in basic food preparation, and with receiving and storing products in kitchens, restaurants, clubs, fast food outlets and catering companies. They have knowledge of general kitchen operations and of general food storage guidelines. This position gives kitchen helpers the opportunity to learn about kitchen and restaurant operations and the opportunity to work with and learn from trained cooks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in basic food preparation
  • Clean kitchen equipment, including food preparation and storage areas
  • Wash, dry and put away dishes and utensils, including loading and unloading dishwasher
  • Scrub and clean pots and pans
  • Receive and store delivered foods and other products
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen and adjacent areas
  • Take out the garbage, recycling and compost, and replace garbage and compost bags
  • Assisting the front-of-house staff, including clearing and cleaning tables, as needed

Qualifications

  • Hardworking, fast, organized and possess a great attitude
  • Able to properly lift and carry heavy items
  • An interest in food preparation and kitchen operations
  • Time management skills
  • Basic food preparation skills
  • Basic cleaning and maintenance skills

Tour Guide / Day Camp Coordinator

Company:                     Sundog Adventures
Position Title:               Tour Guide
Position Status: May be Permanent or Seasonal, Full Time and/or Part Time

Position Summary

Reporting to the Directors, Christine Wenman and Richard McIntosh the Tour Guide / Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Sundog’s tours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Winter: Duties include working with sled dogs (December to April) including pre-season training and working independently with guests and dogs to deliver a high-quality experience using kicksleds.
  • Additional activities include snowshoeing, and other outdoor activities that may be offered to guests.
  • Summer: Duties include operating a motor boat and guiding guests on a variety of experiential tours, including narrating the history of the area.  
  • Summer: Assisting customers with canoe and kayak rentals based out of Sundog Trading Post.

In all seasons the employee will work with the company Directors and Manager to develop and enact COVID:

  • COVID Exposure Control Plan.Employee
  • Risk Management Plan.
  • Daily Cleaning Checklist.

Other Related Duties

  • In all duties, the employee will be responsible to offer consistent, high quality customer service.
  • Within the employees abilities, the employee may be asked to assist with care, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Dog care: Includes grooming, feeding, replacement of straw in houses, preparation of food, cleaning up after the dogs and watering.
  • During times when there are no tours or day camps scheduled, the employee may be asked to assist in the Sundog Trading Post, which may include sales, inventory, rentals and reception services.
  • In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the employee will take initiative in addressing other tasks needed to ensure the delivery of a consistent, safe and high quality product, with the safety of the guests being top priority.
